From the President
President’s Message August 2011
On behalf of the 2011 Board of Directors of Greater Los Angeles Chapter of APIC, we welcome members, visitors, and vendors to our chapter meetings. The role of the Infection Preventionist seems to expand each year and become even more challenging. Therefore, we have made it our mission this year as your leadership group to provide our members with the tools they need to successfully implement the new surveillance mandates. We are collaborating with the CDPH HAI Liaison Nurses to help each facility submit the required data to the CDC’s NHSN website.
Our chapter educational agenda focuses this year on programs to assure IPs from our area are consistent in their data collection and submission for public reporting.
We know that being certified in our professional field is important so several members gather prior to each meeting to update their skills and prepare to either become initially Certified in Infection Control (CIC) or renew their certification. Join this lively group at 11 am prior to our regular chapter meetings.
All professional organizations thrive when their members contribute their expertise through networking. We know you will find our group willing to share their experience and knowledge. At each chapter meeting Networking is an agenda item that encourages collaboration and sharing of resources or references.
